History

This late 19th century house was a private residence operated as an apartment house by Mrs. William Heusner when the College negotiated for its purchase in 1948. Mrs. Heusner continued to live in the first floor apartment, and the rest of the house was first used as a dormitory for women in 1954-55. This arrangement continued until after the death of Mrs. Heusner in 1955 and after her daughter moved away from the apartment in the summer of 1957. In 1957 the purchase of the lot and house by the College was completed. It was then remodelled for offices for faculty in the Social Sciences, which had been housed in the Service Building. The house was razed in July 1963.
